Greetings from the Blizzard Wizard!  So much news...so little time!

As you all know, we had a little snow during Home For The Holidays!  We've finally gotten the shows re-scheduled and re-booked and we're super excited for Xmas in February!!  There are only a handful of returned tickets that will be up for re-sale so please visit both our ticketing site (HERE) and ticketmaster (HERE) for your chances to come to the party!

Also, the Chunksaah After-parties have also been moved!!  BANQUETS and THE HOLY MESS will perform and LAMAR VANNOY will DJ on WEDNESDAY Feb 9th (11-2) at the Asbury Lanes... and we will have a last-night party with Lamar at the Lanes too (Sat feb 12th from 11.30-2)!

And... everyone keeps asking me about the shoes!  The SHOE SALE will still be on the 2nd night (now Thursday Feb 10th) at the Stone Pony at 7pm.  Also, for you 4-night pass holders, the meet-and-greet poster signing will also be Feb 10th at the Stone Pony at 6pm.   Stay tuned for news about other extra-curricular activities!

It is highly unlikely that any roads in Asbury Park will be cleared any time soon and therefore unlikely that we will be able to have a show at The Stone Pony even by tomorrow or Thursday. In anticipation of this likelihood that we will have to continue to cancel or postpone all shows, we have decided to move the entire Home For The Holidays to FEBRUARY 9-12, 2011. We know so many of you have made special arrangements and plans to be here and we wish things could be different. Tickets from the first night (Dec 26) will be honored on Wednesday February 9th, tickets from the 2nd night (Dec 27) will be honored on February 10, the 3rd night (Dec 28) on February 11th, and the 4th night (Dec 29) on February 12. So confusing!!! We are working on the revised schedule (not all the bands will be able to come back :( mope mope) and will announce those on Tuesday, January 11th. Refunds will be available at the point of purchase, but we really hope you can join us in February...

THE BLIZZARD WIZARD'S MORNING UPDATE
(12.28.10 - 11:00AM EST)

As of this moment (11am) the streets surrounding the Stone Pony remain unplowed.. We have hired private plow people to come dig out the area.. And are therefore hopeful the show will go on.. But it is too early to call as of yet. Please stay posted... As for our grandiose extracurricular activities...we are not able to have any of the afternoon fun today :( Cookman Avenue is a mess and we don't want to add to it. The movie at The Showroom ("Repoman") is postponed to Thursday at 4pm...Lenny Lashley will now play at the afterparty at the Asbury Lanes on Wednesday... Photos with Santa will still happen at the Wednesday afterparty but not at the art gallery today... And the special "Ghost Tour" is canceled but they offer them all year round at the Paranormal Bookstore so you should go next time you are in our fair city... Fingers crossed, I'm going over to the pony soon to start digging!!!

Some good news...P.E.D. is replacing A.O.D. on the rescheduled Thrusday show!

BLIZZARD UPDATE (12.27.10 - 1:00PM EST)

Holy smokes!!! For those of you outside the Jersey Shore zone of disaster: there is a lot of snow (2-5 foot drifts!!) and gnarly winds. We are under a state of emergency and transportation is impossible. The roads are not plowed in Asbury park and are impassible. We have no choice but to cancel tonight's show. Please go to the point of purchase for a refund. If you purchased your ticket from Chunksaah Online, we will refund your PayPal account in the next 3 days (4 day pass holders will get back $25). This is really disappointing for all of us, not the festive holiday party we planned at all! I just spoke to the Fake Problems camp and they are unable to get a flight. Lemuria were more than willing to attempt to get here but I told them to stay safe in Syracuse. The crazy kids in The Swellers made it all the way to the Asbury exit of the Garden State Parkway (represent Flint, MI!!!). We are so grateful to everyone for these heroic efforts!! The poster signing for 4-day pass holders will now be on Wednesday at 6pm. The shoe sale will be Wednesday at 7pm. If you are stuck in town... Check back later, we will try to have a get together later if we can ever get anywhere... With sighs and mopes we deliver these sad tidings... -K8

BOUNCING BLIZZARD UPDATE (12.26.10 - 7:30PM EST)

Hello again from the land of blinding snow! Unfortunately we spoke too soon earlier, and in fact, Strike Anywhere is not going to be able to play on the rescheduled show. Very sad news. But!! In the name of bromance, strength and honor, our good friends The Loved Ones will be filling in and playing! Yay! So again, if you are a ticket holder and can't make it or don't want to make it, you can get a full refund at your point of purchase (must be before noon on Thursday). We will announce Thursday afternoon if tickets will be made available due to cancellations. Enjoy the snow!!!

IMPENDING BLIZZARD AT THE SHORE (12.26.10 - 11:30AM EST)

Greetings from Asbury Park where the snowfall began an hour ago. The forecast is for treacherous winds, whiteout conditions, and over a foot of snow! We are concerned for everyone traveling and have no choice but to postpone. The day's events will be moved to THURSDAY Dec 30th. Show time will still be at 7pm. The Great Explainer and Strike Anywhere will still play, but sadly A.O.D. will not be in NJ by then. We are also moving the afterparty at the Asbury Lanes to Thursday night. We will still be playing the first 2 albums on Thursday. The other nights' schedules will remain unchanged. We hope you can join us on Thursday. If you can't, please request a refund at the point of purchase by noon on Thursday. Be safe, stay warm. With heavy hearts we remain yours.

WINTER WEATHER (12.25.10 - 10PM EST)

Hello and merry Christmas! Apparently Santa is sending us a gigantic snowstorm on Sunday. We want everyone to know that we are totally aware of the storm and the potentially hazardous travel. While we are hopeful the show will go on, we may have to postpone it. We will make the call by 4pm tomorrow (possibly earlier but by 4 at the latest) so that everyone can make their plans. So keep checking in and have a merry merry!

PUNK MOVIE MATINEE MADNESS
& SHARK ATTACK WINNER (12.17.10)

Home for the Holidays is proud to present "punk movie matinee madness" on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday afternoon (Dec. 27, 28, 29) at the Showroom (708 Cookman Ave). Come join us on a wintery afternoon (or 3) to view these classic flicks!

Monday at 4pm - "Suburbia" chock full of amazing quotes, this 80's movie features real punks and awesome live shows from the L.A. Punk scene. We often have reenactment moments while gangin' around on tour.

Tuesday at 3pm - "Repoman" sick soundtrack and badass all-around. So many quotes and of course the music we play at the end of every show comes from this flick!

Wednesday at 4pm - "Another State of Mind" this is the movie that taught us all how to tour like punks. Who knew it would become our life story?

Speaking of movies, we are excited to announce Patrick Ahern and Dan Tintle as the winners of the "Shark Attack" Video Contest (see the video below). Great job guys! We'll be in touch soon.

AND...we'll be looking for female vocals for "Wish Me Well". We'll pull an audience member on the spot (Springsteen style) so come prepared to sing!!

H4TH2010 VIDEO CONTEST (12.10.10)

Attention fans and thespians! As you may know, we will be playing songs from the self-titled album on Monday the 27th, including the perennial fav "Shark Attack"! We are running a contest for 2 of you to enact the skit at the beginning of the song. Submit your flip-phone or YouTube or whatever kind of video (video or quick link) to sharkattack@chunksaah.com by midnight NJ time on December 15th and win 2 all access passes to the show to perform "Shark Attack" with the band! Last year’s “set list contest” was really fun and exciting and it got us thinking about some of the “lost classics” and “the ones that got away”. After years and years of writing songs and playing live, it’s hard to give equal playing time to all of those suckers, especially when there are so many all-time-favorites. So it got us thinking…. Let’s listen to our old records and polish up some of those gems! So each night we’ll focus on 2 records! (side note: Kate was visiting Matty and Wig at DogWig Printing the other day and Matty said they should also wear era-appropriate stage clothes… which is really fun to think about… but probably isn’t going to move from fantasy to reality) So here’s the gist:

THE BOUNCING SOULS
"GHOSTS ON THE BOARDWALK"

In 2009 The Bouncing Souls celebrated their 20th anniversary as a band by releasing a new song on the first of each month throughout the year, via digital download. They also pressed these songs onto a series of 7" vinyl records which they sold everywhere they went on a year-long world tour. A one-sided 12" EP backed with an engraving of the classic 80's-90's New Jersey Hardcore band's iconic logo. This is the first time ever release of the group's original 6 song Demo.

Showing surprising maturity and musicianship for a gang of 17 year olds and their adopted 21 year old singer, "1987" features members who would go on to be dead, missing, playing in the popular World/Inferno Friendship Society, cutting their teeth, bloodying their knuckles and sharpening their minds on outrage barely contained by melody. At the time compared to Stiff Little Fingers, "1987" was recorded at the then fledgling Trax East Studios, and gained the band a contract to 7Seconds' Positive Force label that helped kick start the legendarily fecund New Brunswick, NJ punk scene.
